What have we achieved in the last year?

 

  • Donated $7,300 and $7,600 to the wonderful school of Currajong to provide two half bursaries enabling two children to attend this school who would not be able to afford to otherwise - for 2010 and 2011.
  • Donated $2,700 to the Phoenix Park Art & Jewellery Class for Scope students paying for tools needed over the year.
  • Donated $2,000 to DIK to pay for some racking to hold the donated goods in readiness for their departure overseas.
  • Donated $1,600 to Disaster Aid Australia
  • Donated $900 towards the Sudanese Young Leaders programfor Greater Dandenong.
  • We have just farewelled Emma - our Youth Exchange Student who departed 21st January '11 for 12 months in Poland.
  • We sponsored two lovely young ladies - Lisa and Lina - to attend this year's week long Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program held at Oasis, Mount Evelyn.
  • Six volunteers attended the Variety Club's Xmas Party at the Exhibition Centre in December.
  • We have sponsored a student to attend a Lord Somers Camp.
  • We have sponsored three wonderful students to attend the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) in January 2011.
  • Four Rotarians volunteered at the Disadvantaged Schools Cross Country day.
  • We held our 35th Xmas Raffleat Chadstone Shopping Centre.
  • We ran the sausage sizzle and coffee at the Henley Rowing Regatta.
  • In December we provided the sausage sizzle at the Carols in Ardrie Park, December '10
  • We recognised the best performing 1st Year Trade Apprentice at Holmesglen with an award presented at our Club meeting in December '10. Well done Justin - Painter and Decorator.
  • We presented Citizenship Awards to students at three Primary Schools - Solway, Malvern Valley and Holy Eucharist.
  • Our Trivia Night held at Phoenix Park in November was a great evening of fun and laughter.
  • In October we celebrated the Club's 35th Birthday at a lovely Indian Restaurant - Tandoori Den in Camberwell.
  • Our 34th Annual Sounds of Stonnington Carnival was a great success. We had a full Sounds of Stonnington program, better rides, a 3rd more space utilised, a better layout, Spit Roast, Preserves stall just to name a few of the improved activities.
  • Hands on project to revamp The Currajong School back garden June 2011.
